What are SIPS?
Structural Insulated Panels, or SIPs, are prefabricated panels that provide structure and insulation all in one product designed for strength and energy efficiency.
The outer layers (or “skins”) of each panel are typically made from OSB (Oriented Strand Board) or MGO (Magnesium Oxide). The core, is made from either EPS or Polyurethane foam creating a solid and continuous layer of insulation. The inner wall is typically OSB.
The skins and foam are permanently laminated together under pressure, forming a panel that is both lightweight and extremely strong.
Once erected, typical exterior (brick or siding) and interior finishes (sheetrock or paneling) are then applied.
